Mail order company, AmpleBosom, was founded in September 1999 by Sally Robinson. Appreciating the difficulty of finding well-fitting lingerie, particularly for those in rural areas, she established the business from her family run farm in North Yorkshire.

Sally recognized that lingerie for larger ladies was not readily available on the High Street. And although she originally specialised in hard-to-find sizes AmpleBosom now has over 8000 lines of lingerie in 178 sizes- ranging from a 28D to a 58J. When both customer interest and sales orders increased it became evident that not only was there a market for plus-size bras, but also for nightwear, swimwear, tights, dressing gowns, menswear and other styles in sizes that had not previously been catered for online.

The company prides itself on its ability to provide a comfortable fit for all sizes, large and small. “Comfort is our main aim” says Sally “with a correctly fitting bra being the secret of comfort.” The AmpleBosom team is dedicated to helping its customers find the right size and style for them- never underestimating how good-fitting lingerie can transform a persons figure and the way they feel about themselves. Supplying the lingerie through mail order also allows customers the comfort of measuring themselves in the privacy of their homes and items that do not fit can then be returned.

Sally believes that size and shape should not limit what should be naturally accessible to all women- and relentlessly pushes bra manufacturers towards making larger sizes with a greater variation of colour and style so that her customers can choose from a selection of ‘pretty’ rather than ‘frumpy’ bras. Consequently she has had some great successes- with one manufacturer extending their dress sizes from 22 up to a 30. Sally stocks from a wide range of suppliers- from Fantasie, Triumph, Anita, Mey, Royce, Glamorise etc.

Although a printed catalogue is sent out to all their customers three times a year, AmpleBosom is primarily an Internet-based company with the website www.amplebosom.com displaying all their stocked products, from the more practical: Cotton, sports, under wired, soft cup, post-mastectomy and nursing bras, through to the more daring: Strapless items, bridal garments, basques and bustiers. The ‘find a bra by size’ search also allows customers to search effortlessly for their size, style, colour and any items that may be discounted. Prices of garments range from £10.00 up to £79.00.

The website provides the company with the majority of their orders; with a large percentage being from overseas. AmpleBosom are interested in expanding the business globally and so would like to work with affiliates in France, Germany and Spain. This will be website based- if you became the affiliate and a customer ordered off our website by going through your site we would pay you a percentage of the value of the sales order as commission.
